There is no weekly closing day. The Cathedral opens at 10:00 and can open later or close earlier on some days. In early September we cannot confirm the hours: the summer times end on 31 August and the autumn times are in place by 17 September. In summer the closing time is 22:30 in the 2026 calendar, but a note on the same calendar gives 22:00 for the Tower and the Camposanto, so allow some margin.

Leaning Tower of Pisa and Cathedral: Entry Ticket

What time is best to arrive?

In summer the monuments stay open until 22:30 and the Tower opens at 8:30, so you can climb early in the morning or in the evening. In winter the square closes at 18:00, and the last Tower time is about half an hour before: do not arrive late in the afternoon.

On 16 June, the day before the feast of San Ranieri, the Tower closes early, at 17:15.

Is the Cathedral open all day?

The Cathedral opens at 10:00, an hour after the other monuments. During masses and special ceremonies you can visit only a limited area, and cameras are not allowed. Plan the Cathedral for the middle of the day and leave the Tower for the first or last time of the day.

Is anything free?

The Camposanto Monumentale is free on 1 and 2 November. Children under 11 with an adult enter the Cathedral, the Baptistery, the Camposanto and the museums for free, and they need a document or proof of age. The Tower is different: no one under 8 can go up.

What about the ticket offices?

The ticket offices are at the entrances of the square. They open 30 minutes before the monuments and close 30 minutes before closing time. If you book ahead, you do not have to wonder whether the time you want is still available.
